I'm a 68 year old, in a new role as a facilitator to a small group of senior citizens.

I'm looking for ideas, & fun ways to maintain interest in the game of chess

Charming to have you here. Welcome.
One way to liven up chess is to present some of the (simple?) puzzles for group of the people to solve. You can give a certain time for solving, keep score and perhaps give up some small, token prizes.
That is what I do in our chess club once a month.

mrmip, Thank you, yes that will certainly get everyone tuned in to chess, yes I like it.

As I have been typing my response I thought "Why not get EACH participant to present a problem each week which we can discuss as a group" YES mrmip, a very interesting concept.

Again my thanks
